To provide a yearly prize for excellence in playwriting to the most worthy student in literature and playwriting.
To provide support for playwriting activities at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill through the Department of Dramatic Art. Funds may be used to to provide support for visiting lecturers in playwriting and other activities to encourage playwriting.
To provide scholarship support to a rising junior, senior or graduate student studying acting in Dramatic Art.
The fund will provide scholarship support for students studying all fields in Dramatic Art.
The basis of this fund is a gift from Mr. Andy Griffith class of 1949. To provide a scholarship for a sophomore, junior or senior majoring in Dramatic Art who has displayed excellence in the field, who has had extracurricular activities, is of good character and shows need of financial assistance.
The Frederick Koch Scholarship was originally awarded to a student of merit in playwriting and other evidence of dramatic ability by the Advisory Committee of the Carolina Playmakers. This award is presently housed in the Department of Dramatic Art and is awarded to students of exceptional ability in any area of dramatic art. The recipient must be of good personal character and under the age of twenty five years.

To support activities that enhance the production, development, maintenance, and student participation in theatrical productions sponsored by the Department of Dramatic Art.
To support promising students in the Department of Dramatic Art.
The fund will provide teaching by guest artists and theatre training specialists that will expand the learning experience of students in technical production and costume technology. The fund will support a lectureship which will encompass short-term and long-term workshop classes in the specific areas of the theatre artisan’s spectrum and provide specialty materials for projects and workshops used by the guest lecturers.
A memorial fund from family and friends of Samuel Selden who taught in the Department for thirty years and served as Chair for twenty. To award a student playwright who will have written a full length play while enrolled at UNC-CH.
To provide scholarship support to a graduate or undergraduate student in the Department of Dramatic Art.
This award will be used to recognize a graduate student in the Department of Dramatic Art who exhibits excellence in scholarship, leadership and personal character. Candidates for this award must have achieved North Carolina resident status to be considered eligible.
