Dee Dee Batteast

Dee Dee Batteast is Associate Professor at Ball State University, where she teaches Acting, Shakespeare, and One Person Show. Dee Dee debuted her own One-Person show, No AIDS, No Maids: Stories I Can’t F*cking Hear No More, a darkly humorous exploration of the deficient narratives minority actors face in the American theater, at the D.C. Fringe festival, summer 2015.No AIDS No Maids examines the corrosively repetitive positioning of black women and gay men as either the selfless “best friend” or the center of historical stories that have no room for the unanswered questions of a new generation. No AIDS No Maids begs the American Theatre to reconsider the authentic voice of “the other.”
