He was a company member at the Alley Theatre for 11 seasons playing such roles as Brutus inJulius Caesar(with Vanessa Redgrave), Henry inThe Real Thing(Houston Press Best Actor, 2000), and Prior Walter inAngels in America. John returned to the Alley to play Atticus Finch inTo Kill A Mockingbird, spring 2007 and to play in Sarah RuhlsEurydicein 2009. John’s many other theatre credits include work at American Repertory Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Hartford Stage, and the McCarter Theatre. John returned to PlayMakers to play Edgar inKing Lear, Diamond Louie inThe Front Page, Versati inThe Underpants, the Compte De GuicheCyrano de Bergerac, and Emperor Joseph inAmadeus. John also directedStones In His PocketsandCrimes of the Heartfor PRC.
