Four UNC students won awards in the expo at the USITT-Southeast regional conference this past weekend in Asheville, NC.
Athene Wright (MFA ’23) presented the mascot head matrix she 3D scanned from a miniature sculpture, digitized and carved using the ShopBot in consultation with PlayMakers ATD Laura Pates, for the Spring 2022 masks/armor class.
Bronwyn White (Junior) presented their lighting design for the Kenan Theatre Company’s production of Urinetown: The Musical!
Emma Weiss Holyst (MFA ’24) presented the silk and lace 1920s dress they patterned/constructed for the character of “Angel” in PlayMakers’ Blues for an Alabama Sky.
Lou Pires (MFA ’23) presented the upcycled armor they patterned/constructed from samples reclaimed from an upholstery leather dealer, for the Spring 2022 masks/armor class.
All award winners receive admission fees for the March 2023 USITT national conference in St. Louis, MO.
