Mark Perry teaches play analysis, playwriting, and drama survey courses in UNC’s Department of Dramatic Art, andheserves as a resident dramaturg forPlayMakersRepertory Company. Recent PRC shows he worked on includeJump(2019) andHow I Learned to Drive(2019). He directed student productions ofHedda Gabler(2018) andThe Cherry Orchard(2016) for Kenan Theatre Company. Two of his own plays have been produced by the Department of Dramatic Art:A New Dress for MonaandThe Will of Bernard Boynton. In 2017, he and his wife,Azadeh, publishedOur Friend Mona, a biography about a young Iranian martyr. Mark graduated from the University of Iowa’s Playwrights Workshop and was a past recipient of the North Carolina Arts Council’s Literature Fellowship for Playwriting and an Institute for Arts and Humanities Academic Excellence Award.
