Joan H. Gillings
March 5, 2021“The Department of Dramatic Art is saddened by the loss of our dear friend, Joan H. Gillings, who passed away in February. Joan was deeply invested in the arts and in the success of our students. We remember fondly her joy and spirit and are forever grateful to have been a part Joan’s transformational legacy. She will be sorely missed.
Joan’s family will be holding a private memorial service this week in Wrightsville Beach and look forward to a gathering in Chapel Hill when it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that the legacy of altruism that Joan made her life’s work be honored by making a charitable contribution in her name to an organization of your choosing.”
