Professor Samuel Gates, one of the Department of Dramatic Arts’ acting instructors, is performing as Dayton in Fairview at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in Washington, DC. The play, directed by Stevie Walker-Webb, opens September 9 and will run through October 6. It has a runtime of 100 minutes with no intermission. Fairview, written by Jackie Sibblies Dury, discusses the complexity of race, stereotypes, and the conventional family drama. The play won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in drama.
