Andrew Sellon

Andrew Sellon will be starred as Vanya in his second production of Chris Durang’s Tony-winning hit Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, this time at Portland Center Stage in Portland, OR. In fall 2014 he starred as Charlie in a 30th Anniversary production of The Foreigner at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. He played three roles in rotation in A solo Repertory Theatre’s 2014 Winter season in Sarasota, Florida: Vanya in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, directed by Peter Amster (who directed Andrew in The 39 Steps at the Maltz Jupiter in 2011); preacher Jim Casy in Frank Galati’s Tony-winning adaptation of The Grapes of Wrath, directed by Michael Donald Edwards; and Canon O’Byrne in Brian Friel’s classic comedy Philadelphia, Here I Come!, directed by Frank Galati. On film, Andrew played a subway preacher who gives Mark Ruffalo good advice in the hit Begin Again(2014) and contributed his voice to the role of the Judge in the upcoming animated film The Hunting of the Snark. He also appeared as Dorian in the foreign film Mamarosh and shot two indie sitcom pilots, Terminal BandStool Pigeons(all 2013). Previously, he appeared in The Smurfs Movie with Hank Azaria, Sofia Vergara, and Tim Gunn. Andrew also made his network television debut in fall 2014, first playing Debra Messing’s blind date in episode 102 of The Mysteries of Laura, and the following week appearing as James Spader’s Polish informant Henryk Worboliski in episode 202 of The Blacklist. In 2012, Andrew starred as genius inventor Nikola Tesla in the NY premiere of the drama The Dangers of Electric Lighting, as Gidger in the first NY revival of Richard Greenberg’s The Violet Hour, and flying 20 feet in the air as Jacob Marley in the Hanover Theatre’s production of A Christmas Carol. He has also appeared solo, covered with kisses, in a Minute Maid print advertisement, and in a brief iPad app ad for PBS TV. Andrew’s video skit with fellow Harvard alumnus John Lithgow for New York Public Library’s Lions Gala, along with other videos, photos and reviews, can be seen on his web site and blog.
