Introducing incoming costume director, Triffin Morris
October 4, 2018The costume production graduate program welcomes incoming costume director Triffin Morris. Triffin brings a wide range of professional experience to the department from her 20+ of years working in New York City. She has worked at Radio City Music Hall, Tricorne, Eric Winterling, the Metropolitan Opera and many others, making costumes for Broadway shows, opera, and dance. She worked on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Margaritaville, The Rockettes, Beautiful (the Carole King Musical), Wicked, Cinderella, Matilda and Shrek to name a few. She has worked with such designers as William Ivey Long, Paul Tazewell, Ann Roth, Jane Greenwood, Gregg Barnes, and Emelio Sosa.
Triffin has made everything from ugly ogres to ballgowns and specializes in costumes that do tricks. Most recently she was freelancing and serving as a draper for Radio City Music Hall. In those capacities, she made the body padding for the Hagrid character, and the dresses that change from dull to sparkly in Escape to Margaritaville. She is currently working on a book about the history of the costume industry, forthcoming from Focal Press in 2020.
Triffin shares the position this year with founding costume director Judy Adamson, who will retire in the summer of 2019.
